This is such a beautiful area of woodland which is used often by my children. It would be such a shame to loose yet another area to housing development.

Development of Speckled wood is unthinkable. While eyesore site like the Old Hollingsworth garage in Braybrooke Road remain undeveloped (after two decades) to even think of further eroding green sites, with the accompanying detriment to both residents and wildlife, is tantamount to the authorities concerned, saying "to hell with the environment. All we care about is money". Disgraceful.

Leave it alone! My friend lives in Speckled wood and I have been to visit and seen how he has spent all his time and energy beautifying his garden and does not need it backed up to someone elses home. GO AWAY DEVELOPERS!!!!!!!!!! Listen to the Locals and find somewhere else in England to build homes. The sheep will move!

HOW CAN WE NOT CONSERVE THIS FABULOUS RARE PIECE OF WOODLAND - WE HAVE HARDLY ANY GREEN SPACE LEFT - WE NEED PLACES LIKE THIS TO HELP MAKE OXYGEN FOR US TO BREATHE AND LIVE - HAVE PEOPLE GONE MAD - HOUSES OR DEVELOPMENTS WILL BE OF NO USE IF THERE IS NO ONE LEFT TO LIVE IN THEM -I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE COUNCIL OR A TRUST BUY ALL OF THIS LAND AND RECONNECT IT AS ONE PIECE TO SAFEGUARD IT AND INVEST TIME AND MONEY INTO IT FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS TO COME - WE HAVE ENOUGH HOUSES IN THAT AREA :INDEED TOO MANY ALREADY IN CLOSE CONFINEMENT -THERE ARE ENOUGH HOUSES IN THE SOUTH EAST TO HOUSE THE HOMELESS TIMES AGAIN - THE LAND IN UK ONLY USES 15% FOR HOUSING-THIS ISSUE NEEDS ADDRESSING - WE ALSO NEED TO CONSERVE THE AREA FOR THE WOODLAND INHABITANTS - WE ARE NOT OWNERS OF THE LAND BUT MERE TENANTS -ALSO THE DRAINAGE VALUES OF THIS SITE ARE UNDERVALUED !

No-one in the Ore/Tressel area want any form of development in this already stretched infrastructure,we DO NOT have the schools or the road systems to support it.No-one wants to see the destruction of protected species and habitats,we WANT it to stay GREEN!!! It will create too much noise,disruption and loss of privacy for existing home owners and will decrease property values(especially if the houses planned are still "social"!!!!!)

If you want more housing in Hastings, firstly, ensure that there are no empty properties - there are too many! Secondly, consider the infrastructure. It would make far more sense to build out rather than cram more in and take away the few green spaces we have left. We don't just need housing, we also need recreation and nature as well as balanced and well designed living spaces.

Although not a resident of Hastings (yet but soon to be), I would like Speckled Wood to remain as it is for my family to enjoy. It is a jewel in Hastings and for it to be destroyed and developed (an irony that particular word in itself) would mean the end to a small but very beautiful part of the town. Please let Speckled Wood remain as it is.

During 2005 we formed SAD OWLS Residents Action Group because we and 250 local residents believe the Upper Ore Valley,"Speckled Wood" (The Holler)should be re-designated as a community woodland and wildlife habitat, NOT developed as put forward in the 2004 local plan. We are founder members of Ore Valley Action and have opposed several planning applications where high density development has been proposed,the Knights development Victoria Avenue, Church Street amongst them.we produced a questionnaire which went to 300 homes around the Upper Ore Valley giving residents options on what they would like to see in the Upper Ore Valley 114 replied with an overwhelming 83% against any housing development in the wooded ghyll now called Speckled Wood,at this time we had also suggested to planners and council that we would not object to houses which fitted on the old footprint of Church Street,so as non of the three options put forward by the council for the Local Development Framework document fit in with ours or meet

Hastings is becoming overdeveloped in it's green spaces and abandoned buildings are left to deteriorate. Use these buildings before you even consider using land that is helping rather than hindering the environment around it.
