Rather than take away green areas derelict properties, which are an eyesore should be restored and re-used or knocked down and the land used e.g. the old Langham pub, Hastings 'cottage' on the Ridge. Recycling arguments should apply to architecture as well: recycle, reuse and reduce. Let's reduce on removing green sites by reusing others!

With all the vacant building in Hastings and lack of trees (ecosystems for life), maybe its time too fix some derelict buildings and preserve the woods. Unless we want our children to live in a Slummy areas with no fresh air only car exaust to breathe, because thats where we are heading.

S74 of the NPPF states: "Existing open space...should not be built on unless:
an assessment has been undertaken which has clearly shown the open space...to be surplus to requirements; or
the loss resulting from the proposed development would be replaced by equivalent or better provision in terms of quantity and quality in a suitable location; or
the development is for alternative sports and recreational provision, the needs for which clearly outweigh the loss.".

None of these appears to apply in this case. Speckled Wood is an important part of the Green Infrastructure in a part of Hastings which is otherwise underprovided with local green space. It is a natural candidate for designation as Local Green Space under S77 of the NPPF, and should be retained for this purpose.

When will this Council listen to what people want. We want better quality housin for more people. We DO NO WANT ANY GREEN SPACES DEVELOPED FOR THIS PURPOSE. Thre are plenty of areas that NEED development and aren't getting it and many where development has been started and abandoned without eating into more of the green space in Hastings. WE DON'T WANT OUR GREEN SPACES DEVELOPED. AT ALL. EVER.

Woodlands are priceless on the fight against climate change and preventing floods. We need to keep all the woodlands that we have to avoid floodings in this place of the world. The same mistake has been made by other councils and the resoults have been harrowing. That is without mentioning the lost of habitat for wild life and specially bees
