The Council should ensure that in safeguarding existing employment areas, sufficient flexibility is retained within policy to allow for the consideration of a range of employment generating uses.
The Council should make clear within Section 8 that a variety of land uses, including retail uses, will be considered employment generated uses. It should be made clear that policy will not predetermine what forms of economic development are acceptable in these locations but will retain sufficient flexibility to allow each proposal to be assessed on its own merits, having regard, amongst other things, the employment opportunities to be generated.
