9. Consultation Bodies

Specific and general consultation bodies

9.1. The Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012 (as amended) require us to consult with the following consultation bodies if the Council considers that the body will be affected by the proposals set out in a particular Development Plan Document. These bodies will also be consulted in relation to major or controversial planning applications, where appropriate.

9.2. Specific Bodies:

  • The Environment Agency,
  • Historic England,
  • The Marine Management Organisation,
  • Natural England,
  • Network Rail Infrastructure Limited,
  • National Highways,
  • Rother District Council and other Local Authorities who may be affected by strategic policies in the Plan.
  • Adjoining Parish Councils,
  • East Sussex County Council,
  • Gas, electric and telecommunications companies,
  • NHS Sussex,
  • Southern Water and other sewerage and water undertakers,
  • Homes England,
  • Neighbourhood Forums,
  • The Coal Authority and others as required.

9.3. General consultation bodies:

  • voluntary bodies some or all of whose activities benefit any part of the town;
  • bodies which represent the interests of different racial, ethnic or national groups in the town
  • bodies which represent the interests of different religious groups in the town;
  • bodies which represent the interests of disabled persons in the town, and
  • bodies which represent the interests of persons carrying on business in the town

9.4. The Council must also consider the need to consult with other consultation bodies, agencies and organisations (local, regional and national) in the production of all documents making up the Hastings Local Plan.

9.5. A record of all such correspondence is held together with the database of consultees and updated.
