As a frequent visitor to Hastings, I oppose the destruction of any part of Speckled Wood. Please protect your woodland and open spaces for future generations. Hastings is a great town - don't turn it into one big housing estate! I oppose the development of the Speckled Wood Area.

Friends of Speckled Wood representation returned opposing any housing development in Speckled Wood. Options A, B & C consulted by the Council allow development to a greater or lesser degree. The Friends of Speckled Wood request a fourth option of no development in the woodland.
Speckled Wood is under threat from developers, speculators and your local Council.
Your local Councils Planning Department in Hastings Borough Council is currently operating a consultation on the future of Speckled Wood. They have worked alongside the Ore Valley Trust to give options A,B,C for the future development plans of the Upper Ore Valley, Speckled Wood (previously known as the 'Ola', Holla, Holler, Hollow). Each one of these options entails development of Speckled Wood to a greater or lesser degree.
On the 16th of August 2012 the consultation period ends and no further discussion will be heard.
The Friends of Speckled Wood want a fourth option of no development in the woodland. This has been refused by Ore Valley trust and by The Local Authorities consultation. The Friends of Speckled Wood believes this is not democratic and as the government believes in Localism, the choice should be with the people from the local area.
Do you oppose any housing development in Speckled Wood: Yes √

Voting for option D. But because we all know housing is needed, then worse case then option C should go ahead if there is no alternative.

Use already ruined land, but do not destroy woodland. I oppose the development of the Speckled Wood Area.

I've grown up in this area and spent much of my time playing in the wood with my older brother and sister, we have made camps there, watched the badgers and foxes playing seen woodpeckers, slow worms, bats and dragonflies of many colours so please listen to the residents and keep this wooded area for the future generations to enjoy, not so the developers from far away can line their pockets and forget about it.

Living next to a wood, I can see the value of retaining green spaces within our town. One way or another, Hastings benefits in so many ways from having these pockets of oxygen and wildlife. I urge you to find a workable alternative which doesn't impact in such a brutal way.
