A nice green space should be kept a nice green space. There is no need to try and fill in every area with bricks and morter.
I oppose the development of the Speckled Wood Area.

Redevelop old existing housing land before using up more area - how about the 'Road to no-where' off of Frederick Road - At least more trees do not have to come down.

I am a resident in this are and believe far too much our woodlands are being destroyed for housing development. This is environmently not friendly, effects our local wildlife and removes land that I and many people enjoy. I feel that more money should be spent on improving unused buildings.

I feel that the area around 'Speckled Wood' is already over developed, particularly Ore village and it's busy road (A259). I am of the opinion that the wood should be either left as is or improved to become a local amenity. This would provide some relief from the surrounding urban sprall.

I feel that the area around 'Speckled Wood' is already over developed, particularly Ore village and it's busy road (A259). I am of the opinion that the wood should be either left as is or improved to become a local amenity (such as a local nature reserve, a woodland trail, or part of a 'local green route' connecting local communities). This would provide some relief from the surrounding urban sprall. Please note that i do not live in Ore, but often use the existing woodlands for walking & cycling; both by myself and with family & friends.

This area of town should be entitled to an area of woodland just as the people at st Helens are, why are you trying to deny the people of this area including the children there place of nature and place to play away from all the noise and pollution
I oppose the development of the Speckled Wood Area.

Apart from the amenity needs of the local population, which are important in this deprived area, I believe that Speckled Wood is also important as a green corridor for wildlife. It has been proved that isolated pockets of green space are not adequate for wildlife and, although not ecologically rich at present, this land could be improved to benefit both wildlife and people. Once lost to development it is too late.
Hastings is important for its wooded ghylls. Let us save and improve this one within an already fairly heavily built-up area.
Although I live just outside Hastings Borough I am very near Ore and the green area known as Speckled Wood.

Hastings is an usually green and attractive town - please don't let it turn to grey concrete like everywhere else. There seems to be no shortage of housing in Hastings - there are plenty of properties for sale, and lots of beautiful old buildings in need of renovation. Why has this patch of greenery got to be concreted over? It seems very shortsighted.

Friends of Speckled Wood representation returned opposing any housing development in Speckled Wood. Options A, B & C consulted by the Council allow development to a greater or lesser degree. The Friends of Speckled Wood request a fourth option of no development in the woodland.
Speckled Wood is under threat from developers, speculators and your local Council.
Your local Councils Planning Department in Hastings Borough Council is currently operating a consultation on the future of Speckled Wood. They have worked alongside the Ore Valley Trust to give options A,B,C for the future development plans of the Upper Ore Valley, Speckled Wood (previously known as the 'Ola', Holla, Holler, Hollow). Each one of these options entails development of Speckled Wood to a greater or lesser degree.
On the 16th of August 2012 the consultation period ends and no further discussion will be heard.
The Friends of Speckled Wood want a fourth option of no development in the woodland. This has been refused by Ore Valley trust and by The Local Authorities consultation. The Friends of Speckled Wood believes this is not democratic and as the government believes in Localism, the choice should be with the people from the local area.
Do you oppose any housing development in Speckled Wood: Yes √
