Representation Summary:
We are concerned to see the Silverhill District Centre downgraded from it's current allocation under the Hastings Local Plan 2004 to a Local Centre in the Core Strategy Preferred Options.
The proposed downgrade indicates a lack of confidence in the role and function of Silverhill in the retail hierarchy of Hastings and conflicts with the Council's wider aspirations to consolidate and strengthen the existing retail centres. We strongly recommend that Silverhill's classification within Hastings's retail hierarchy should be corrected to reflect its function and the aspirations for the centre going forward.
