This approach needs to recognise that any planning permission granted to tackle key buildings in this area must be sympathetic to their position and original use within the local built environment and preserve the architectural value they may have as part of the over-all streetscape.
Any demolitions, over-developments or changes of use that could undermine the viability of Central St Leonards as a sustainable community should be rejected. Further loss of retail space to residential use should also be excluded.
