Speckled Wood is under threat from developers, speculators and your local Council.

Hastings Borough Council's planning department is currently operating a consultation on the future of Speckled Wood. The Local Development Framework details options A, B or C for the future development plans of the Upper Ore Valley's Speckled Wood (previously known as the 'Ola', Holla, Holler, Hollow). Each one of these options allows development of Speckled Wood to a greater or lesser degree.

On the 16th of August 2012 the consultation period ends and no further discussion will be heard.

The Friends of Speckled Wood want a fourth option of no development in the woodland. This has been denied in the local authority's consultation. The Friends of Speckled Wood believes this is not democratic and as the government believes in Localism, the choice should be with the people from the local area.

Do you oppose any housing development in Speckled Wood: Yes √

Comments:
Any wooded area within our town MUST now be left in place, plant life is our main provider of our OXYGEN. With all the vehicles on the road today we desperately need these plants. More houses in this area will mean a lot more cars on the road in Ore, which is gradually destroying our normal lives.
