Historic Environment comments - This is an area which lies within an Archaeological Notification Area (ANA) defining the historic meeting point of roads of prehistoic and Roman date, running from the north and along the Ridge. The HER contains a record of a Roman coin being found within the site boundaries. The area is adjacent to former medieval settlements to west and south east with Listed Buildings and a Scheduled Monument (Old St Helens Church). Appropriate assessment and evaluation survey would be required to understand the potential archaeological interest in advance of decision making on any proposed development.
