Representation Summary:
The target figure of 240-360 housing units can only be achieved by high-density developments of small flats on a few likely 'windfall' sites - including the former Hastings College in Archery Road. This is not the type of accommodation the area needs to facilitate regeneration; it will not enhance or preserve the important Burtons' St Leonards conservation area; it will not create a sustainable community and it will not satisfy the area's need for family homes. The target figure is too high, given the unique architectural and historic constraints of Maze Hill and Burtons' St Leonards.
