Objective 9 - Sense of Identity and Place for all new Housing

Provide additional homes that give a range of housing options for existing and future residents, ensuring the provision of a range of affordable housing options. Ensure all new housing provides a sense of identity, place and neighbourhood. Ensure all new housing is built close to existing public transport and community infrastructure. Ensure the highest possible design quality for all new homes. Ensure all new housing is energy efficient and makes use of renewables. Critical success factors are:
* provision of 4200 new homes mainly in Millennium communities and innovative Sea Avenue and Country Avenue mixed residential communities
* range of in-situ affordable housing options to be provided in schemes over 15 units in size • including shared ownership, shell/part shell construction, self-build
* prioritise housing use or visitor accommodation in all seafront developments above ground/first floor level
* ensure all housing schemes over 15 units in size incorporate quality landscaping
* all new housing schemes to be rated zero carbon by 2016
* all new housing to meet CABE Building for Life standards and Code for Sustainable Homes level 6
