Objective 4 - Town Centre Diversity, Vitality and Safety

Encourage diversity in the town centre and local/district centres of Bohemia, Old Town, Ore, Silverhill and St Leonards to ensure they are safe, attractive and thriving places.
* Ground floor vacancy rates maintained at less than 15%
* local shopping areas to retain basic services such as a small supermarket, sub post office, pharmacy, bank and newsagent
* increase in 'living over the shop' and reduction in over the shop vacancies
* development and maintenance of high quality public realm to encourage business confidence and civic pride and to attract quality shops/businesses
* mix of uses and day to evening natural surveillance to increase public safety
* reduction in monoculture of drinking establishments and solely 9-5 uses
* consult police and community on applications likely to raise safety concerns
* restrict office worker car parking to free up for traders, visitors and shoppers
