Representation Summary:
We support the redevelopment of the existing out-moded employment stock. However, it is important that policy makes provision for a range of economic development to come forward. The blanket protection of existing employment sites for typical B1, B2 and B8 uses is unduly negative and potential prejudices employment generating opportunities.
We strongly recommend that flexibility is retained within policy to allow for the consideration of alternative forms of employment generating development. In particular where sites are no longer suitable for typical employment uses the Council will consider alternative forms of economic development.
