Representation Summary:
Fully support the enhancement of local and district shopping centres. These should be protected from the kind of edge of town proposals such as the current ASDA store and its large car park at Silverhill (Ponswood). This proposal could severely damage the viability of the existing good mix of businesses, all within walking and cycling distance of quite dense residential areas, and enjoying relatively good transport links. Along with all brownfield development, this would be very likely to support SA objective 2 (Public Health promotion through encouraging healthy lifestyles).
