Representation Summary:
SMPCT support the principle that all new development should be sustainably designed and assessed against local, regional and national guidance. SMPCT query the amount of weight attached to guidance produced by the Council for Architetcture and The Built Environment (CABE). SMPCT recognise that guidance produced by CABE should be used to inform planning policy and decision making, however it should not be used as the sole basis of assessment. As a result SMPCT recommend that the 'crictical success factor' be amended ro recognise the design of new development will be assessed against a range of guidance documents.
