Representation Summary:
Extending the tourist season and encouraging visitors with higher spending power is supported. However there should be specific reference to holiday parks (caravan, touring caravan, tent, chalet) and encouraging existing parks to upgrade, improve layouts, provide better landscaping, which may involve expansion - as referred to in PPS7 / the GPG on Planning for Tourism. Holiday parks are the largest provider of rural tourism bed spaces,they provide a valuable source of local employment, provide work for local service industries, sustain local businesses, make a valuable contribution to environmental sustainability, and have a substantial positive impact on the local economy.
