The HA supports all measures that seek to maximise sustainable transport options with the overall aim of reducing the need to travel by car, particularly, as stated, the opportunties for non-car based travel should be fully exploited before any increase in car parking provision. The HA supports the continued development of LATS; the joing working with Rother greatly improves its chances of success. The location of car parking and park and ride faciilities requires careful planning as both have the ability of attracting and generating car based trips to the detriment of the highway network.
