I sincerely hope this development is not permitted. Firstly, the wood and valley are a jungle of Japanese Knotweed (which needs eradicating) and any development here will spread the plant. Secondly, this little stream is going to flood at some point so unless the buildings are on stilts it's a disaster waiting to happen. Thirdly, these pockets of green are vital not only to the wildlife they provide a home to but to ourselves as lungs in increasingly overcrowded urban areas.

Please protect this 'accidental' green space in Ore. Apart from the value to wildlife and environmental benefits of trees for air quality and prevention of flooding and soil erosion - children are increasingly losing contact with nature and space to play. The preservation of Speckled Wood for future generations - an oasis amongst the houses, an outlook onto treetops for local residents in a poor part of the town - would be an eternal memorial to the foresight of Hastings Council!

A thousand homes have already been approved in Ore Valley. There are so few green spaces for people to walk into where they can breathe in the trees, the running water, with the sightings and sounds of wildlife and walk dogs. It is obvious that we need to preserve all the trees we possibly can for our own/future generations sake. It is a criminal act to destroy yet more for the sake of development in an already built up area.

I have had the pleasure of many walks in this beautiful little wooded hollow, with relatives who live near it, all year round and I am always struck by its beauty. The council have already approved the development of Ore Valley for a thousand homes to be built. Why on earth do they now need to steal this beautiful and essential recreation area for the people in this area. Where do you propose people now have fresh air and restorative walks amongst the trees as well as walk their dogs. There are so few green spaces for people to walk into where they can just take a half hour to breathe in the trees, the running water, with the sightings and sounds of wildlife. It is so obvious that we need to preserve all the trees we possible can for our own sake and for future generations. It is a criminal act to destroy yet more for the sake of development in an already built up area. How can anybody justify this? Please please think again about what you are planning to do to this wood and thereby to all of us. Anybody who causes this development will surely have it on their conscience for the rest of their lives. They know how vitally important it is to keep and preserve our woodlands, wildlife, and flora for all our sakes and yet they want to flout this knowledge - making all of us pay for the damage it causes. It is high time you listen to us and please stop any development in Speckled Wood.

We live opposite, my partners nan has owned this house for many years and finds it disgusting that developers are trying to take over Speckled Wood, destroying animals homes and ruining the area. We don't want to wake up look out and see buildings, we enjoy our scenery as is and building will bring trouble and disruption. If this development goes ahead we plan to move away as we don't want to live opposite a monstrosity. This needs to be stopped!!
