I believe that these splendid woods should be preserved for the enjoyment of future generations, development should be carried out on brownfield sites wherever possible. The Hastings/Bexhill bypass will also release more than enough land for development.

WHY DON'T PEOPLE WILDLIFE AREAS ALONE. WHERE ARE THE COUNCIL PROPOSING TO RE-HOUSE THE TAWNY OWLS, THE BADGERS, THE FOXES AND ALL THE OTHER ANIMALS AND BIRDS THAT NEST IN THE WOODS AND HAVE DONE FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS. NOT FORGETTING THE OTHER POINT WHICH IS, WHY ON EARTH WOULD I WANT HOUSES NEARLY AT THE BOTTOM OF MY GARDEN. IF A MEMBER OF THE COUNCIL LIVED HERE WHAT WOULD THEY RATHER HERE, BIRDS SINGING IN THE MORNING AND REASONABLE TRANQUILITY DURING THE DAY, OR UNTOLD NOISE FROM ABOUT 8AM( DURING THE BUILDING PERIOD ), THEN AFTER WORKS HAVE FINISHED WHO KNOWS WHAT. I KNOW WHAT I WOULD RATHER. GO AND BUILD SOMEWHERE ELSE AND LEAVE THE WOODS ALONE.

Why does the Council allow developers to try and either demolish buildings of architectural interest or build on green sites? There is so much derelict, empty housing in Hastings and St Leonards-on-Sea which could be utilized first!

I disagree with this development of green land. We are all watching the green areas rapidly disappear to greedy developers that have only one goal, make as much money as possible. Soon there will be no green areas left in Hastings.

Isn't it a little stupid, taking away more woods and land from the wildlife that live there. Where are they going to go? There's very little land left for them in this town. When housing is built and people start putting their rubbish out, the animals start foraging through it for something to eat, and people start moaning that it's foxes and badgers fault. NO you build on their land so where else are they supposed to go. Leave the woods alone.

I think that there is short-sightedness in continually developing our local woodland, as regard is not given to the facilities that need to be in place if more and more families are moving into the area; ie decent sized gardens, even extra schools to cope with the higher number of children.

Speckled Wood is well used by the local community and is a vital area of green space in Ore. It should be left as it is for everyone to use. There is plenty of undeveloped land in the area that is unused and should be developed before Speckled Wood is even considered.

There are lots of badgers and jays in the wood as well as other animals that would lose their habitats if the wood is developed. It should be left alone.

This area is a wonderful resource for both wildlife, and the local community, forming one of the few remaining green spaces in the Ore area. Considering that the brownfield site at the Halton end of Frederick road remains unused since the demolition of Mount Pleasant hospital & the nurse's home, why spoil this otherwise natural area with a development, which will put more traffic onto roads unsuited to carrying it?
