The green spaces in our developed urban areas are very precious and essential for heath, cultural and environmental reasons. This wooded area needs to be used as a green resource for the local community. There has already been a strong commitment to improving Ore Village through voluntary horticultural work, so there is obviously a willingness & desire to have more natural areas in this densely populated area. Hastings has become over developed and we are running out of road space and parking facilities and to lose another piece of woodland would be very sad. We dont need more people moving into Hastings. I would imagine that development would be too costly. To clear the Japanese Knotweed which is abundant throughout the wood would not be a viable proposition for any developer. Also,the stream would need major thought. I live where the stream goes underground in Frederick Road. When it rains heavy the stream (river) cannot handle the volume of water coming down from Ore. I live in fear of my house getting flooded, and the conduit concrete pipe which takes the water to the bottom of Deepdene Gardens is currently blocked. Having spent numerous hours clearing the grill, I have had enough of it and if any development sorted out this problem I would not object. At the moment,the clearing of the wood that the volunteers do creates problems for me. It all washes down to Frederick Road. During the heavy rain a few days ago,the water was around 8 feet deep. Now just a trickle. Much thought is needed on any development plans
