The Link Road, without a proper link to the A21, along with large amounts of additional housing and industrial development, will put a massive amount of extra strain on these junctions. There is no apparent strategy for alleviating this.

Traveline tells us that bus links between town centre and the Conquest from early evening are very poor or non-existent. We also note that simultaneously, car parking has been extended at the Conquest. This is bad practise in sustainable transport terms.

Development in this area is likelyto be significantly affected by the construction of the Link Road. The Development Management Plan highlights the need to carefully manage traffic flow in the area particularly at existing junctions and near development sites. This emphasis ois welcomed although it should be noted that development sites within Little Ridge & Ashdown may need to be assessed through the production of a Transport Assessment, in accordance with the DfT's Guidance on Transport Assessment, which the HA would wish to review given the close proximity to the A21.
