The HA actively supports the joint working approach adopted with the neighbouring Rother District Council and with East Sussex County Council. The significant cross commuting between Hastings and Bexhill is accepted to be one of the main causes of the many congestion related issues in the two towns. The HA continues to support the Hastings-Bexhill Local Area Transport Strategy and wishes to remain involved in its development to ensure it provides the basis for a robust evaluation of transport impact and the identifcation of practical, deliverable transport strategy based on sustainable travel initiatives.

Visions are limited, do not reflect the true character and potential of the area, or explore proper range of alternatives. They are unacceptable as the basis of a planning framework

Do not support any of the objectives in present form. All need comprehensive further examination of wider issues as described for visions. The objectives need to reflect the visions and fulfull them. They are currently unacceptable

Agree with walking and cycling objectives, start committing budget now to improve infrastructure. We need these improvements now! Only agree with link road being built if all other improvements to travel infrastructure - rail, cycling, walking are addressed first.

In broad terms, the Shared Vision can be supported given that it sets forward wide-ranging social, economic & planning objectives which represent common issues & interests for each of the prospective authorities.

Strongly support the Shared Vision. The physical proximity of Hastings to Bexhill means that a joined up approach is the best way of securing physical, environmental, economic & social benefits to the Hastings & Bexhill area. A shared vision for development that crosses administrative boundaries will benefit the area & bring cohesion to proposals.

It is not entirely clear how the shared objectives relate to the strategic objectives.
Shared Objective 3 should be more specific & refer correctly to Bexhill & Hastings Local Area Transport Strategy (LATS).

We are pleased to see the joint working that is taking place between yourselves & Rother. However it is not clear whether the vision & objectives set out on pages 33 & 34 are taken from another document or have been prepared to inform this Core Strategy. In either case, cross boundary thinking must be integral to the strategy & you may want to consider how this an be demonstrated. How are these going to be implemented & monitored?
