Inspector's Preliminary Findings on HBC Development Management Plan (ID/9)

Representation ID: 9801

Received: 27/03/2015

Representation Summary:

The site lies within the built-up area. Development of the site is therefore acceptable in principle particularly if it secures the long term future of the listed buildings. The requirement to market the site will add delay and would not preclude an inappropriate purchaser whose interest may not be to maintain the existing listed buildings. We therefore request that sub-para (d) be removed from Policy HN6.

English Heritage Guidelines require the marketing of the site. However, as enabling development in this case would not, in principle, be contrary to policy, a marketing exercise is unnecessary and may well be detrimental.
