Development Management Plan Consultation Document 3rd February - 27th April 2012

Representation ID: 3362

Received: 26/04/2012

Representation Summary:

The site benefits from very good public transport links and is therefore sustainable from a transport perspective. As such any application for this site should rely on public transport rather than additional car parking provision. The site covers the highway accesses to the railway & bus station. Any application must therefore carefully consider access to the area for buses, taxis, pedestrians and cyclists.

One issue associated with this site would be loss of the existing multi storey car park at Junction Road. If replacement spaces were not proposed within the site or elsewhere in the vicinity of the town centre then this may lead to an increase in demand for on street parking in the area. Any application would need to demonstrate how this issue will be mitigated if off road parking is not provided for the general public.
