Planning authorities should seek to enhance the environment as an integral part of development proposals, building in biodiversity & ensuring a 'good fit' into its setting & the wider landscape based on landscape character assessment. New development should aim to avoid significant adverse effects on the environment where possible. this is in compliance with PPS1 creating sustainable Communities & PPS9 Nature Conservation.
