We strongly support the proposed modifications which ensure that almost all of Speckled Wood will be protected from development. The redesignation of the land will provide an opportunity for community use to be firmly established and allow for proper woodland management to improve and enhance the whole area.
The land next to Victoria Avenue is totally unsuitable for any form of development and any attempt to do so would severely stress the surrounding roads, drainage etc.
This alteration to the Development Management Plan will preserve the integrity of the green space in the valley.
We strongly support the proposed modifications which ensure that almost all of Speckled Wood will be protected from development. This woodland valley is very important to us and the people of Ore village and it provides a "green lung" in a quite densely populated area. The redesignation of the land will provide an opportunity for community use to be firmly established and allow for proper woodland management to improve and enhance the whole area.
The land next to Victoria Avenue is totally unsuitable for any form of development and any attempt to do so would severely stress the surrounding roads, drainage etc. and I do not think that the developers have any intention of building on it.
This alteration to the Development Management Plan will preserve the integrity of the green space in the valley.

I am strongly in support of the proposed modifications as this will ensure that almost all of Speckled Wood will be protected from development. This woodland valley is very important to local residents and the redesignation of the land will provide an opportunity for community use to be established and allow for woodland management to improve & enhance the whole area as well as continuing to provide habitat for the wildlife. It is also my hope that the parcel of land to the rear of Old London Road will be reinstated as allotments for the community.

We do not need to see any change to the area called Speckled Wood. Please leave it as it is already, beautiful woodland for wildlife to live peacefully and local people to enjoy too.

The proposals are welcome but I wish to make the following amendments below to make the unsound Plan sound.
The Local Development Framework does not provide enough protection for Speckled Wood/Upper Ore Valley. The Main Modifications from the Inspector's Preliminary Report need to be brought in to make the Plan sound and provide protection through the Inspector's recommendations.
The decision to delete MM8 site allocation at Victoria Avenue (CV01) due to environment and community considerations overiding any requirement for development is welcomed.

MM9 deletion of proposed housing allocation CV03 at Rear of Old London Road is welcomed but it does not provide protection for the remainder of the woodland. To make the plan sound either an additional or new Main Modification should be created. MM9 should be expanded to encompass the entire Speckled Wood/ Upper Ore Valley green-space lying to the Rear of Old London Road and encompassing Church Street (un-adopted) to Clifton Road, Frederick Road, known locally as nomenclature Speckled Wood essentially on the grounds that the environmental and community considerations outweigh the need/requirement for housing. Policies for Local Nature Reserve, Ancient Woodland and Local Wildlife Site would appear to be the appropriate status for this site. This is in line with the Policies contained within the Local Plan.

I am so pleased to hear that the proposed development to Speckled Wood has been modified and support the Inspectors proposal.
This woodland valley is very important to me and the many residents of Ore. It means that Ore can keep its greenspace for future residents to enjoy.

I totally agree it would be a great shame if this land is built on, not only to the people of Ore, but all the wildlife that has made it their home.

I am writing to add my support to the Planning Inspectors recommendations to have the land numbered MM8 & MM9 in Speckled Wood deleted from the allocation of land for development.
This land has been used for decades by the community as a local greenspace amenity. It is great news that this deletion has been recommended.
I do not believe this site has ever been developable.

The areas are already built up enough & there are many people living there. Parking can be a problem & there is often traffic congestion.
The areas specified are nice open spaces breaking up the urban area. A lot of wildlife live in the areas. It is better to have some undeveloped land to reduce the risk of flooding. People can benefit from having these natural havens preserved. It is important for future generations as well as us today.

I strongly support the proposed modifications as this will ensure the future of Speckled Wood for the use of the local community and allow woodland management to improve the whole area.
The land next to Victoria Avenue is entirely unsuitable for any form of development and I cannot imagine anybody wanting to live in such a valley.

To build on this land is stupid. It is a steep valley with no access at one end & poor access at the other end.
I have lived in this area all my life, used to play on the green. It is a meeting point for local people.
Traffic either end of the valley would cause congestion as the roads are very busy & would cause congestion in the Ore Village. Traffic there at times is very dense.
As the local Council has turned the proposition down, I cannot understand how an Inspector from London knows better!

After opening up the wood with paths & steps it will be good to have the law on our side & have it designated as an open space. I agree with the Inspectors Preliminary Findings.

I very much support these modifications which will protect much of Speckled Wood. This wood needs to be kept for the use of all local people and for the future. It is obvious that the developers who own the land have no intention of building on Speckled Wood some or most of which is highly unsuitable for development.

I strongly support the proposals to delete MM8 & MM9. There is precious little green space in Hastings. Living opposite Alexandra Park I am only too aware of how lucky I am and support any efforts that would allow people living in more built up areas to have access to green space. If the remaining section of land adjacent to Clifton Road could be included as well, then the wood will be as complete as possible.

The open space is important to me as an Ore Resident and I feel the land is totally unsuitable for development.
To keep this green space undeveloped is important to local residents and to the landscape of Ore village.

This site at Speckled Wood should be designated as protected urban green space. The town should have an area to protect wildlife and the community should have access to green spaces in the area.
