This was an iconic building subject to an arson attack. The planning permission was given during the meeting it was said that the stone would be shipped to Canada and the house rebuilt exactly the same. It was sent to a reclaimation yard for a profit. Who profited is unclear. There was no need to demolish the structurally sound building. What we lost was a historic valuable and beautiful building. What we have now is as many units as possible crammed into the space where it once existed.
