The Society is concerned that the Development Management Plan gives insufficient recognition and protection of Burtons' St Leonards and insufficiently detailed guidance on what might be appropriate development in that area.

In order to have a clear understanding of what the Council regards as 'significant' and what is appropriate and what might sustain or enhance the heritage assets, it is necessary that the character and significance of each area should be clearly and fully described. There is no Conservation Area appraisal for Burtons' St Leonards. There does not appear to be any relevant material in the evidence base.
