Option 1, paragraph 3 of your suggested wording refers to protecting water quality which we support. With regard to the location of development our Groundwater Protection Policy (GP3)1 advises when certain development types may not be appropriate for vulnerable groundwater areas however only in very specific circumstances would we object in principle to development proposals.
Development can also pose a risk to water quality through contaminated surface water run off. As discussed above (1.2) in relation to pollution, water quality should be protected by the inclusion of pollution control measures in new development when appropriate.
