Local Plan 2004 estimated number of units 25. The site is suitable for housing. It is a sloping difficult triangular site alongside the railway tunnel. After much dispute and 2 Inspectors reports which were ignored planning permission was given for 29 dwellings c.48 dwellings per hectare. It is a huge overdevelopment of a difficult site. There are no front gardens, a difficult road system and flats. The number of dwellings 30dph is in the local plan.

I support the proposal to designate the area of land in the Upper Ore valley (Speckled Wood) as local green space as this is a welcome step towards the local campaign to protect the whole of Speckled Wood. I would prefer to see the three areas identified for development also included in the local green space area. Over 1300 people signed a petition to save Speckled Wood in July last year.
