A multi storey development on this site is entirely inappropriate. It would dominate and be seriously detrimental to both the setting of the Italianate station and to the fine Victorian townscape that embraces it.

One of the main reasons that i love living in St. Leonards is its rich heritage and townscape. Knocking down victorian structures and replacing them with multi storey buildings would deeply sadden me and my family as this would lose the character of where we live. These proposed multi storey buildings would seriously damage St Leonards' potential for heritage regeneration and tourism.

The statement that the design brief will 'create a landmark building which would act as a catalyst for the broader regeneration of Central St Leonards' is unsound. Adding more cement to the desecration of the Kings Road Conservation Area is a misguided policy. The council may wish to see 'a vibrant active street level frontage to the station forecourt' and 'retail and similar uses such as coffee shops/sandwich bars' added to the glut of existing unused shops, residents of Hastings and St Leonards have a better understanding of the area.
