Planners at Hastings council endeavour to successfully manoeuvre their way around the policies relating to the protection of habitats and species and do everything they can to justify their development plans. Mitigation is an excuse used too frequently in order to justify these inappropriate developments. You cannot mititgate for the loss of ancient woodland and wildlife. Once lost ancient woodland is lost forever. From my perspective the protection allocated for these areas is too flimsy and vague and officers will always find a way around these Policies. It is disheartening.Looks good on paper and thats about it.
