Development Management Plan Focused Consultation 6th July - 17th Aug 2012

Representation Summary:

This site, although there is no present ANA designation, lies adjacent to the site of the medieval manorial centre of Filsham and adjacent to the Listed Building at Filsham Farm. Recent work to the south east at Filsham Academy has found evidence for early medieval/medieval field boundaries and it is possible that this site has the potential to contain buried archaeological remains associated with early medieval and later settlements. Although not in an ANA, the site should be reviewed for local ANA designation within the HER.

Representation Summary:

Landscape - This open space is in an area which lacks safe accessible open space close to homes. There is considerable open space associated with the schools to the east and the Combe Valley Countryside Park to the west. However these are not accissble to yong people in the surrounding houses. The Edinburgh Road space does provide public space c;lose to homes. It is an important green space in the built up area and contributes to the character of the area. Recommended to protect this area as a local open space, as per NPPF para 76.
