This is an area that has caused quite a bit of discussion at application stage, and would be better sorted out by this policy.

The County Council strongly supports the inclusion of the new policy issue within the access policy. The requirement for lifts within new buildings would be useful not only to disabled people but would benefit most users of the buildings particularly families. It is recommended that the policy also states that lifts should be wheelchair accessible.
