The amount of open space for the size of population is woefully inadequate; ballgames are discouraged in Warrior Square, and difficult in Gensing Gardens as a result of dog fouling. Many young families live in cramped flats with no access to a garden; Central St Leonards has the lowest overall living environment IMD scores [2011] in the Borough. There should be active engagement in enhancement of existing, and preferably development of new, open spaces - efficient use of land does not always mean cramming it full of housing.
