This site should be considered for commercial (preferably retail use). Hastings Town Centre is comparatively small compared to other centres with similar population. In order to compete with other nearby centres (Eastbourne, Tunbridge Wells) Hastings needs to expand its retail offer. This site seems a prime site as it is central and close to other retail areas. This is less suitable for housing as it is not a residential area. Furthermore, as an town with a low jobs density Hastings should be utilising all large sites in non-residential areas for employment not housing.
