There needs to be a list drawn up of all non designated sites that are of historical value to this town. Too many of these important buldings have been demolished to make way for featureless concrete blocks. Look around this town to see what has happened. One wonders if any lessons have been learned from past mistakes."Who gave planning permission for THAT?" is a frequent comment made. This invasion of hideous developments has to stop before the whole of Hastings heritage is lost forever. Policy DG1 is frequently ignored by the planning department.

The creation of a local list of heritage assets is something other planning departments have had for many years. I support the creation of local lists to guide planners that unlisted assets do exist and need consideration during their DC function.

There are many building of worth in this town that because they were not listed where demolished in favour of 'new' faceless developments. Each application should be considered on its own merits, and if a building has historical worth then it should be preserved for future enjoyment. Often it is left to the developer to say that a building has little worth, or that it would cost to much to bring back to a useful life instead of contacting the relevant bodies that could determine a building's historial worth. It is sad when a beautiful building is lost.

We support the creation and management of a local list of non designated heritage asstes, but suggest the wording or para 5.27 be amended as the first sentence is not easy to understand.
