Representation Summary:

It is suggested under option 2 that with separate policies there might be an argument that each aspect ground condition should be dealt with separately. Surely this is the correct way to go as each site is individual and land instability is caused by many different reasons not just land drainage problems. The suggestions seem loaded to approve of the first suggestion as there does not seem to be a reason against why that should not be taken forward.

Representation Summary:

We support the inclusion of a policy to address potential contamination as it will help to protect water quality from potential contamination. This will help to ensure that Water Framework Directive objectives are met and in particular groundwater bodies are protected and improved.

We would however recommend having two separate policies and therefore support Option 2. Land stability and land contamination are discrete and separate issues and have separate technical guidance, standards and assessment methodologies. Separating the issues in to two policies should help development management and developers in clarifying assessment needs.
