Knocking down existing houses and creating larger developments on the sites would mitigate against biodiversity aims and break up migration routes of other species.

This section i found difficult to grasp. Not nearly enough emphasis has been put on the historic environment which is the Boroughs' greatest asset. Were the conservation areas treated with the care and attention they deserve, more skilled workers and home owners would be attracted to them, thereby making them more economically diverse.

Housing standards have major effect on peoples' quality of life. Hastings has taken excellent initiatives to improve private sector housing. This momentum must be maintained.
