Pressure needs to be applied for a service upgrade on both London bound routes; including Canon Street, for City workers. It is unlikely that Network rail have enough capacity to cater for a significant increase in London-bound commuting (which is one of the targeted demographics for in-migrants).
The upgrade to a modern rail system is decades overdue on the direct Ashford-Brighton link, although it is not as useful as was hoped since fewer of the high speed trains stop at Ashford.
