Hastings Local Development Framework - Core Strategy Informal Consultaton 27 June - 8 August 2011

Representation Summary:

Children need a safe area for play - too many flats are being constructed in Hastings with no garden provision - a garden provides a safe environment for children to play - a local play area situated far from the home is no substitute for a garden. No developments for family occuptation should be permitted unless these properties have garden provision. The current Hastings Local Plan actually includes this as a requirement which is frequently disregarded.

Representation Summary:

A real commitment to identifying and creating children's play areas in south St Leonards is needed urgently; the map of the audit of play areas shows a black hole across South St Leonards. The 'Tracks' play area on St John's Road is frequestnly taken over by older children (evidence of poor provision for them), while the miserable little play area on Seaside Road is poorly located and impossible for a mother to enter with a buggy due to the entrance design.
Allowing developers to make commuted payments doesn't provide the facility where it is needed, somewhere close to the development.
