I support the proposal to construct the network of cycle routes as shown in the Local Plan Policies Map, as the urban road system in Hastings is difficult and dangerous for cyclists. I believe we could encourage residents of Hastings and visitors to the town to travel by bike if we had a cycle network. This would also reduce the risk of accidents and improve the health of the residents of the town, and biles could be used for both travel and leisure. Recent studies showed that women in particular need to be able to cycle in a safe environment or they will not encourage their children to cycle. Having a good network of safe cycle routes is a win-win for Hastings and would bring the town up to the cycling standard of progressive comparable towns. I also support policy T3 in the Local Plan and the other measures to improve sustainable travel.
